Before you post
Write about Surrey from your own experience, be honest and fair about businesses and people, don't share anyone's private information, disclose if you were paid or given anything, only use photos and videos you have the right to share, and no spam or hate. Every post is reviewed before it's published, and we can remove posts that break these guidelines.

1. What belongs on the blog
Posts should be useful to people who live in, work in or visit Surrey, BC: local guides, first-hand experiences with businesses, community events, tips for newcomers and advice for small business owners. Write in your own words from your own experience.
2. Be honest and fair
- Only describe things you experienced yourself or can back up. Share opinions as opinions ("I found the service slow"), not as facts about someone's character or honesty.
- Don't make false or misleading statements about any person or business. Posts that could damage someone's reputation with untrue claims will be rejected or removed.
- If you have a problem with a business, you can describe your experience, but personal attacks, threats or campaigns against a business aren't allowed.
3. Disclose connections
If you own, work for, are related to, or were paid, gifted or discounted by a business you write about, say so clearly near the start of your post. Undisclosed promotion isn't allowed. (See the Competition Bureau of Canada's guidance on endorsements.)
4. Respect privacy
Don't share anyone's personal information - home addresses, personal phone numbers or emails, photos of people who haven't agreed, children's names or faces, or private conversations.
5. Photos, videos and other people's work
- Only upload photos you took yourself or have permission to use. Don't copy text from other websites.
- Videos can be linked from YouTube or Vimeo only, and must be relevant to your post.
- Describe every image (alt text) so the post works for everyone.
6. Not allowed
- Hate speech, harassment, threats, or content that demeans people based on who they are.
- Sexual content, graphic violence, or anything illegal or dangerous.
- Spam, advertising disguised as a post, affiliate or referral links, or keyword stuffing.
- Misinformation about health, safety or emergencies.
7. How review works
Every post is read by a moderator before it's published. We may approve it, or send it back with a reason so you can make changes. We don't edit your words without telling you. Once published, anyone can report a post; we review reports promptly and may remove a post that breaks these guidelines, telling the author why.
8. Your content
You keep ownership of what you write. By submitting, you give MB Listing permission to publish, display and share your post (and its photos) on the site and in promotion of the site, and you confirm you have the right to grant that permission. You can ask us to take your post down at any time through the Contact page.
9. Changes to these guidelines
We may update these guidelines. Each post records the version its author agreed to; earlier versions stay available on this page.
